About me
Dr. Kerrie Torres is a seasoned educational leader with over 28 years of experience serving diverse school communities across Southern California. She currently serves as Deputy Superintendent of Newport-Mesa Unified School District, where she leads with a strong commitment to student success, organizational coherence, and human-centered leadership.
Throughout her career, Dr. Torres has held roles including science teacher, assistant principal, principal, executive director, and assistant superintendent. She is recognized for building collaborative cultures, strengthening systems of support, and driving continuous improvement to increase academic outcomes for all students.
Dr. Torres is developing of the Living and Leading Well framework, which centers on whole-human leadership and professional sustainability. Her work supports leaders in aligning purpose, well-being, and impact to lead effectively in complex systems without sacrificing their vitality.
She completed her doctoral research focused on women in K–12 leadership, examining the strategies used to navigate barriers and advance to executive roles. Her work bridges research and practice, offering insights into adaptive leadership, resilience, and transformational change.
