About me
Dr. Pennicooke is currently an Administrator Development Coach and an Education Consultant in Culturally Responsive Education and in Self-Care for Educators. She retired from the Los Angeles Unified School District as one of the first Administrative Coordinators of Instruction for the Black Student Achievement Plan. As a principal she led Kentwood ES to twice being named a California Distinguished School, was awarded a California Department of Education Grant, won the Governor’s Physical Fitness School-wide Challenge, and the Special Children’s Art Foundation School Collaborative Mural.
Jean earned her B.A. in Psychology at the University of California, Los Angeles (UCLA), her M.A. in Education at California State University at Dominguez Hills (CSUDH), and her Ed.D. from the University of Southern California (USC).
In 2014, she received the Research Advancement and Compliance Award as a community member of the Institutional Review Board (IRB) at Loyola Marymount University (LMU). Her community service has been demonstrated in her past participation on the LMU Elementary Advisory Board, LAX Chamber of Commerce, Westchester/Playa Educational Foundation, Elementary Principals Organization and Associated Administrators of Los Angeles.
Dr. Pennicooke has been a guest lecturer for a university school leadership course, and has extensive training in Adaptive Schools, Cognitive Coaching techniques, Data Driven Instruction, and the Essential Elements of Effective Instruction.
