About me
Dr. Andrea Norman has dedicated more than 29 years to public education, serving in multiple leadership roles across five California school districts. She began her career in 1997 with Los Angeles Unified School District as an elementary teacher, teaching grades 2–5 for over six years. She later transitioned into administration, serving as an Assistant Principal and Elementary Principal in the Temecula Valley and Saddleback Valley Unified School Districts for more than a decade.
After 13 years in site leadership, Dr. Norman became Director of K–12 Curriculum and Instruction in PYLUSD. In 2019, she joined Oceanside Unified School District as Director of Certificated Human Resources, earning her ACSA Personnel Certificate. In 2021, she was appointed Associate Superintendent of Business Services and completed her Chief Business Officer Certification through CASBO. In 2025, she was named Superintendent of Carlsbad Unified School District.
Dr. Norman holds a BA in Journalism from California State University, Long Beach; an MA in Educational Leadership from California State University, Dominguez Hills; and an Ed.D. from USC.
Throughout her career, Dr. Norman has remained committed to ensuring all students have access to the opportunities, resources, and support needed to thrive academically, socially, and emotionally.
